What is Calibration
Calibration allows Train Fitness AI to learn your specific movement patterns through video, significantly enhancing exercise detection accuracy by up to 46% for each calibrated exercise.
You can record calibration for any exercise during any workout.
For best results, film 3 sets for each exercise (each calibration containing one set) with at least 6 reps per set.
How to film Calibrations
You need both your Apple Watch and iPhone to record calibrations. Before you begin, ensure the following:
You’re in a well-lit room.
Your whole body fits into the frame.
Your phone is set up on a steady surface.
Use your usual weight for lifting.
To record Calibration, on your iPhone:
Enable Calibration: After starting a workout, in the “...” menu, tap “Enable Calibration.” Then In the mobile workout editor, tap “Start.”
Record Your Set: The video viewfinder will appear on your iPhone. On your Apple Watch, tap “Start” when ready.
Begin Recording: After a 3-second countdown, the recording will start.
Finish Recording: Perform 6-8 reps, then tap “Finish” on your watch to end the recording. The maximum duration is 46 seconds. Once this time limit has been reached, the recording will be automatically stopped and saved.
Edit Details: Adjust the exercise type, reps, and weight as needed.
Save Calibration: Tap the checkmark icon in the upper right corner of your watch. “Calibration Saved” will confirm that the calibration is successfully saved.
Uploading Calibration Videos
Calibrations can be recorded anytime when the iPhone and Apple Watch are connected. Videos will be uploaded automatically when the iPhone is connected to Wi-Fi.
To change the video quality on your iPhone:
Go to Settings and scroll down to find "Calibrations."
Adjust the "Video Quality" as desired.

Frequent Questions
What does “Calibrated” mean for an exercise?
After recording 3 videos of an exercise, it is marked as “Calibrated.” If you have fewer than 3 calibration videos, the exercise will display as “Calibration Available.”
Are calibration videos required for auto-detection?
No. While recording calibration videos enhances auto-detection accuracy, it is not required for auto-detection to function.
Are all calibrated exercises auto-detected?
Not all calibrated exercises are currently auto-detected. Train Fitness supports a wide range of auto-detected exercises. As Train Fitness gathers more calibrations, Train Fitness AI will expand auto-detection to more exercises.
Why are some exercise calibrations suggested?
Suggested calibrations are exercises you’ve previously adjusted. For example, if you have corrected the rep count for Bicep Curls, Bicep Curls would be a “Suggested Calibration” for you.
Why are some exercise calibrations preferred?
Train Fitness aims to gather more calibration videos so the AI can learn faster and detect more exercises. Recording preferred exercises helps Train Fitness improve the accuracy and expand auto-detection to more exercises.
